Achieving Financial Harmony in Marriage
For many married couples they love to do fun and exciting things together such as dinners in a nice restaurant, going to the theater or buying new things for their home. For some couples these wants and desires have to be set aside because financially they just can not afford the extras in life. Their small financial income is barely enough to meet their basic needs such as clothing, housing and food. The extras are well just that, extra. This lack of money can often times lead to frustration and arguments between the couple.
Due to a low financial income many couples will find they are unsettled and worried about what the future holds for them. This can cause feelings of worthlessness and depression. Low income jobs along with bad credit are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to hard financial times.
When it comes to debt it is important to be able to seek a solution to help fix the issues before the problem gets extremely out of hand. Debt can not be resolved by fighting and arguing over it. You need to take action to be able to resolve the issues and plan on how you will work to keep the budget under control.
By taking action quickly you will be on the road to being debt free and in a better financial situation soon. Follow these simple steps to finding a way to control your spending and minimize your debt.
1. Make a budget. By making a budget and sticking to it you can spend only the money needed for your basic needs. Make sure to avoid purchases that are not completely necessary.
2. Take a small portion of your budget, at least 5 %, and put it into a savings account. As this money grows you will see that you have money in case an emergency arises such as a loss of income or illness.
3. If it isn't necessary and you can't afford it, get rid of it. If you can't afford a gym membership, get rid of it. If you can't afford a cell phone, shut it off. Learn to live within your means.
4. Limited your spending. By finding creative ways to spend time with your partner that are free or very low cost such as visiting the beach or having a picnic. This will help you save money that can be spent elsewhere while still enjoying each other.
5. Communication is essential to maintaining a good marriage. If you have concerns or fears talk about them with your partner so you can work them out together.
As with anything else in life being married is not always a bed of roses. Issues come and go but if you can work through them with your partner things will turn out ok. Learn to face your financial issues head on and you will win in the end.
